Uday shetty the student of class VII got 2nd and 3rd prizes in 800
and 400 meter race. The Kabaddi team of our school became the
RUNNERS UP and Thro ball team was the CHAMPIONS in Zonal level….
Thank to the team who trained them and hats off to the winners …..
The
community of Saccidananda celebrated the Nativity of Mother Mary on
8th of September. The celebration begun at 7.00 A.M. with the
blessing of new corns at the entrance of the house, followed by
offering of flowers to Mother Mary and the short procession leading
the faithful to the chapel. Fr. Joseph Dolphy Pais, provincial
minister was the main celebrant along with other priest brothers
from the community.
In
order to refresh and revitalize the staff members of Assisi School
had a day of outing to Gokak falls, Godachinamalki and Hidkal dam.
since there was good rain in the surrounding area the places were
filled with lush green scenes. a lunch together at Sacred heart
church and a visit to St. Theresa School also gave different
glimpses to all of us. throughout the trip the teachers danced and
enjoyed a lot. good day to remember and refreshed.
On
6th Sept we celebrated Teacher's day celebration in Sneha Jyothi
Vidyalaya. The program was completely organized by students
themselves. On this day every teacher had a surprise in class as
well as in the stage. All were inspired by speeches that was
delivered by the principal,teacher and students. All teachres were
present and enjoyed the program put up by the students themselves.
There were entertainment games for the teachers which were most
funniest event ever. Thanks to the students. Sweet was distributed
after the program.
Time
for students to make their teachers dance to their tunes,
good-humorously speaking. Teachers were overwhelmed with joy and
appreciation they received from students of both the colleges. This
event will be always a memorable one and the one which will always
graft a sense of fulfillment in hearts of every teacher of the
college.
Teachers’’
Day was celebrated in a grand scale at Anugraha Church School, Bidar
on 5th of September, 2013. Fr. Joachim D’Souza, OFM Cap. the
treasurer of the Capuchin Education Board cum Capuchin Friars
Service Society was the chief guest. The students themselves
conducted the entire programme. Dance Competition was held for the
Students. The judges for the competition were:- Fr. Joachim D’Souza,
Fr. Francis Fernandes and Sr. Anitta, DSS.
Fashion
is an expression of a constructive, creative and liberated mind.
Students assert their rights, as they catwalk through the runway, to
express their interests in art, colors and aesthetics, even more in
what they wear. Interestingly, they came out with different and
variety of genres in clothing and design.
Amidst
the hectic and busy schedule of our apostolate eleven friars of four
fraternities (Assisi Nilaya, Moodbelle; Trinity Vihar, Permpally;
Holy Family Friary, Brahmmavar; St.Joseph’s Friary Kasarkod)
preferred to have a VILLA DAY to JOGFALLS to relax and revive. The
auspicious day was on the 28th of August as the schools had a
holiday on the occasion of Astami. On the way back we visited
Gundibal parish one of the Capuchin mission many years ago. At the
end of the day all the friars were delighted and felt that the day
was a relished one.
On
23rd August, the INFANT JESUS SCHOOL staff and students gave a grand
sendoff to bro. Victor. The principal, Fr. Dancy appreciated the
hard work of brother as a principal. He said its just because of him
that the school has a great name in and around ckm. Bro. Victor
mentioned the great change, development in and around school after
his transfer. He further remarked that those who do good to the
school are his friends.
It
was a joyous day for all the capuchins of Holy Trinity Province
Karnataka as our Mission in Uganda rang the silver bells on 11th
August 2013 at St. Padre Pio Shrine, Kabulamuliro, Entebbe Road. The
Silver Jubilee Celebration began with much preparation in advance
under the guidance of the present Superior Regular Fr. Francis
Furtado. On the day of Jubilee Celebration , the Eucharistic began
at 10. 00 am presided over by His Grace Cyprian Kizito Lwanga the
Arch Bishop of Kamplala Archdiocese.
An
Independence Day Celebration was one of the glamorous events put up
by the staff and students of our school which attracted a tremendous
crowd from our neighborhood. 
Independence
day was celebrated in a very grand scale in Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya,
Pothnal. Fr. J.B. Sequeira was the chief guest of the program, who
hoisted the flag and encouraged the children with inspiring
patriotic speech. Together with the manager of the school,
principal, parish priest of the Clara Vihar, director of Vimukti
social cell Pothnal, brothers and staff and students made this
memorable.

Independence Day was celebrated in a grand scale at Infant Jesus
School, Chikmagalur. The programme began at 8.00 a.m. by hoisting
the national flag by the chief guest of the day Mr. Dominic Mendon,
Chikmagalur. Mr. Sujendra, PTA president was on the dais and
received the salute from the students. Three students delivered the
Independence Day message in three different languages.
67th
Independence Day was celebrated in a grand scale at Anugraha School,
Bidar. After the flag hoisting, various cultural programmes were

Students
express their feelings of honor and appreciation to the great
leaders who worked for the country's freedom. Fr. Alywn Dias, the
Director, after unfurling the flag, spoke to the students of how to
live their lives in responsible freedom. Fr. George Monis was the

In
preparation to Independence Day the members of PTA organized some
games to the children from nursery to 7th. There were different
kinds of game played and PTA members assured some beautiful prizes….

The
twin celebration of 67th independence day celebration and the
decennial inauguration of St. Francis of Assisi School was held with
great grandeur and glory. the national flag was hoisted by Sri
Sandeep serkane, Councillor of TMC Chikodi followed by a beautiful
and accurate march fast by the school students.
On
10th of this month the teachers had a training programme on how we
use English in our today life, spoken English. This was the 3 hours
course, and the course was conducted by Mrs. Snehal Lobo. The
teachers really benefited by this course. Thanks to the organizers.
As
we are supposed to celebrate the environment day in the month of
june, due to heavy rain we postponed it and today we celebrated it.
The whole programme was organized by the group of shree kshetra
Darmastala gramabhivradhi yojane in our school. The president of the
programme was our principal, chief guest was Tegoor Jagadish, dist
president of KRV, ckm. And the Programe was inaugrated by lighting
lamb by Keshav Naik, the programme coordinator, Darmastala…

now the INFANT JESUS SCHOOL serves bisi oota to the students.. As
the students leave the house at the earliest in the morning, and the
students wanted to have fresh food in the afternoon, the principal
with the team decided to have bisi oota…..So from 1st of August we
began it. The students are very happy and benefiting it. Special
thanks to the Principal and the team…
Today,
06-08-2013 during the assembly Mr. Chander Rai, Fine Arts College
New Delhi, demonstrated craft work to the students. He used chart
and colour papers. He also used 3D book with pictures in it and
taught the students how to use it. He was very creative and the
students and the teachers appreciated his demonstration.
St.
Anthony School was filled with joy as we celebrated the Birthday of
our Headmaster and Asst. Headmaster on 1st of August. We had solemn
Eucharistic celebration in the morning and in the school it was a
moment of celebration, joy and happiness and our joy was multiplied
by the presence of staff, students and parents.
Nothing
is impossible where there is a strong will. Our students after lot
of tiresome practices and painstaking efforts won the Kho Kho match
in the zonal level sports meet.
Anugraha
School at Bidar held its first Parents’ Meet of the Academic year
2013-14, on 26th July, 2013. Fr. Alwyn Dias, OFM Cap., the Vicar
Provincial of Holy Trinity Capuchin Province, Karnataka and also the
secretary of Capuchin Education Board, was the resource person of
the day and also presided over the meeting. He elaborately explained
to the parents gathered their specific role in educating their
children by collaborating with the staff and the management.
Cooking
is an art, rare possess it, rare relish it and rare appreciate it.
Anthonians, the students of Darshan Degree College and St. Anthony’s
P.U. College, gave cooking a whole new touch of glamour, beauty and
exquisite tastes. Variety and creativity in cooking were exhibited
by the students. Each participant had something of one’s own to
contribute to the event. Rev. Fr. Steve Rodrigues, the Provincial
Minister of Goa Province and Mrs. Annie Albert were the
distinguished guests.
A
Parent – Teacher meeting was held on Saturday, the 13st of July,
2013 to discuss about the growth and development of the students in
the field of education and also to elect the new office bearers for
the PTA committee. The meeting began at 10.00 a.m. Sr.Mary Lobo the
principal of St. Joseph pre-university college in Chikmagalur, was
the resource person to address the gathering. More than 500 people
were present.

18th of July 2013 St. Clare Feast was celebrated in a grand scale.
There were many guests priests and nuns together with the
parishioners who witness and experienced God’s choicest blessings.
Fr. Dolphy Pais, the provincial minister of Holy Trinity Province
was the main celebrant for the festal mass and powerful preaching by
Fr. Godwin, the definitor. The feast was celebrated with the
preparation of 3 days of navena and a day of retreat.
It’s
a tradition in Pothnal to give food to the parishioners on three
different occasions viz. St. Clare Feast, Christmas and Easter. We
used to hire vessels from out which would cost much. As God takes
care of the Church, a local politician by name Mr. Sheshareddy,
Kavithal came forward to donate vessels to Pothnal Church, worth
40.000 rupees. We must appreciate the initiative of the Parish
Priest, Fr. Anthony Raj (senior). We thank the generosity of the
person.
Proud
Anthonians welcome the new souls into their vibrant clan with
enthusiasm and jubilation. Fresher's Day 2013-14 was organised as
every year by the senior students for the freshly arrived 1st year
students, but with more vigor and participation than ever. The
freshers were enthralled by the experience of this celebration and
welcome. The program included games, music band rocking the stage,
variety of dances, jokes and a lot more. Thanks to the event
managers who make a difference in the college and learn by
experience to put in their talents in organization. We wish every
student a bright future in their management career.
On
8th July to 12th July 2013 there was a Retreat arranged for all the
superiors, parish priests, directors of formation houses of Holy
Trinity Province Karnataka. The venue of this retreat was at
diocesan pastoral center Bajjodi, Mangalore. Rev. Fr. Christi
Francis OFM Cap., of Pavanatma Province, Kerala was the retreat
preacher. There were for about 35 members present for the retreat
including other than the above said persons.

striving hard for the glory of the school.. May infant Jesus school
always shine brightly like the sun in the summer, always abundance
in knowledge like the rain in the rainy season. So on 22nd may we
had meeting of the new principal and staff. And in this meeting all
the staffs of 2013-2014 were present. And here the former principal
br.Victor welcomed the new principal Fr. Dancy Martis after which we
the new staff gave a simple send off to br. Victor and Fr. Lawrance
the principal and the vice principal. And the new staff was guided
rightly by Fr. Dancy.
Sneha
Jyothi Vidyalaya rejoices with a donor viz. Basavaraj, who
distributed books, notebooks and writing materials. He said that he
was inspired by the fathers here at Pothnal of their selfless
service towards the poor people. Nearly 10 students who were really
poor were benefitted from the donor. Thanks to God who inspires
people to share their might with poor.
Yes,
its true when Government and Capuchins worked together miracles just
happen. This is prominently witnessed at Pothnal. With the keen
interest and tapping the projects from the Government Fr. Anthony
Raj (senior) together with community support has worked the miracle
of digging a huge lake in Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya premises.
It’s
a high time to wake up. Otherwise the world will be a boiling pot
soon with its natural calamities. Realizing the reason, the children
of Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya have taken very serious steps to do
something about it. On 5th July 2013 VANAMAHOTSAVA was celebrated in
Sneha Jyothi Vidyalay Pothnal. We had a brief stage program before
planting the plants.

Vitter, U.S. senator says “I continue to believe that if children
are given the necessary tools to succeed, they will succeed beyond
their wildest dreams!". True indeed that many of the children are in
one way or the other need of something in day to day lives. Tools
can me meant anything that which requires a child to develop his or
her potentials to the full. Many of the parents have a dream for
their children that they achieve their ambitions, goals or fulfil
their dreams and no doubt that their sacrifices towards children are
unremarkable.
Engaging
in new ideas, a whole new wave of thought has infiltrated among the
students. An occasion for the students to exercise their choice and
freedom by voting for their leaders. A step towards use and practice
of reason to work and form a society that is just and contributing.
Br.
Chetan Lobo took charge of the Diocesan Bible, Catechetics and
Liturgy Commission at ceremony organized at Mother of Sorrows
Church, Udupi on 4th July in the presence of Most Rev. Gerald Isaac
Lobo, bishop of Udupi and other priests. He has been given the
responsibility of Family Commission too. Br. Chetan has office at
the Bishop’s House, Mother of Sorrows Church Campus, Udupi and
residence at Trinity Vihar, Perampally.
We
have a total of 370 students compared to the last year's total of
340. The college continues to grow. Looks like there's no stopping
or looking behind, there is only an onward March. Thanks to the new
team. With the addition of Br. Alwyn Dias the Director, Br. Roshan
Rosario the Principal, P.U. College, the college experiences more
growth and foresees a bright promising future
On
Saturday 29th of June 2013 on the day of Solemnity of Sts. Peter and
Paul, 8 capuchin brothers from Karnataka, 6 capuchin brothers from
Maharashtra and 3 TOR brothers and 1 Carmelite brother were Ordained
as deacons by His grace Most Rev. Bernard Moras the Arch bishop of
Bangalore, at 3.00p.m., in Darshan Institute of theology, Bangalore.
The gracious event was held during the Eucharist. The Eucharist
began with a melodious choir group of theology students guided by
Fr. Salvadore Fernandes.
Today's
kids are in the making of tomorrows destiny. In order to give the
feel of leadership at the school level we had the inauguration of
Assisi Parliament in the school premises of St. Francis of Assisi
School Chikodi. Master Sumant Bhat and Miss Chaithra Kokatnur became
the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime minister respectively. They
took the oath and promised to be loyal to the school authorities.
Education Minister, Finance Minister, Discipline Minister,
Cleanliness Minister, Sports Minister, Cultural Minister and the
opposition leader also had the pronounced the oath of loyalty and
obedience.
The
inauguration of the Academic Year 2013-14 at Darshan Institute of
Theology through which the Institute regained its original splendor,
is what we are glad to share with you. The inaugural Eucharistic
celebration which began at 9 am, on the 3rd of June was presided
over by Very Rev. Fr. DolphyPais, the Provincial Minister of Holy
Trinity Province, Karnataka. After imploring God’s blessings in the
temple of the Lord, the Darshanites gathered in the Conference hall
at 10.30 am for the LectioBrevis. Fr. JossyFernandes, the Rector of
the Institute extended a warm welcome to the chief guest Very Rev.
Fr. DolphyPais, the Provincial Minister of Holy Trinity Province,
and Rev. Fr. Pancratius Pinto, OFM Cap., the speaker of the day.
Anugraha
School at Bidar has computer education for all the students. Fr.
Francis Fernandes, the parish priest blessed the systems and Fr.
Lourdswamy, the computer faculty inaugurated the systems. Mr. Ravi,
the proprietor of Balaji Computers was present. Bro. Victor Crasta,
the principal thanked everyone responsible to install the systems,
in a very special way he appreciated the keen interest taken by Fr.
George Monis, the previous principal.
Capuchin
krishik Seva Kendra (R) Dayalbhagh rural development Programme, with
the support of VOLKART FOUNDATION, inaugurated a new project namely
“Empowerment of the rural vulnerable children through the support of
the quality education on 25th June 2013. The programme is
inaugurated by lightning the lamp by the MLA of Belthangadi Taluka,
Mr. K Vasanth Bangera. In his inaugural speech he highlighted the
role of the School Development committee, teachers in overall
development of the child and He thanked wholeheartedly Volkart
Foundation for coming into the aid of these poorest of the poor
children of the Taluka.
Dear
brothers, fraternal greetings from Br. Anthony Raj and all the
postulants all the way from Farangipet. We are happy to share with
you that, we began our year of Postulancy on the 13th June 2013 the
feast day of St. Anthony of Padua, with a solemn Eucharist and later
inaugural function in the Postulancy premises. It was indeed a
memorable day for all specially for the 20 postulants who were
introduced into this academic and experiential year. As a
preparation for this year, students had a three days of retreat
animated by Fr. Prem (Montfort) who lead them to have a meaningful
beginning into religious life.
13th
June 2013 was an opportunity for the Anthonians to have a triple
celebration. The founder of the Institute Rev. Fr. Vincent Furtado
and the Co-founder Rev. Fr. Chetan Lobo were to be honored for their
contributions to the institute. It was also an opportunity to
remember our patron St. Anthony, under whose protection this
educational ministry is carried out. The inauguration of the P.U.
College Academic year was also another event celebrated. Rev. Fr.
Alwyn Dias, the Director of the Institute presided the event. Rev.
Fr. Veerus Concessao, Principal of the Degree College compered and
organized the event. Rev. Fr. Roshan Rosario, Principal of P.U.
College oriented the new come students on the programme for the
academic year.
It
was on 27th MAY 2013 a welcoming function for the new Principal was
held in ST.FRANCIS OF ASSISI SCHOOL, CHIKODI. At first the programme
started with a prayer song led by the teachers. Fr. Manohar D’Souza,
the outgoing Prinicpal welcomed the new Provincial rev. Fr. Dolphy
Pais and introduced to the staff members. Then he introduced and
welcomed the new Principal Fr. Richard Quadros. Fr. Provincial in
his speech appreciated the work done by the outgoing Principal, Fr.
Manohar D’Souza as he had taken up the responsibility of the
Principal in the difficult times.
Dr.
B.S.Talwadi, the principal and Mrs. Suchitra K., the vice principal
of St. Anthony's P.U. College were given hearty farewell by the
management, staff and students of the college on 1st June, 2013. Fr.
Veerus presided over the function and appreciated the services of
the principal and the vice principal and felicitated them with
flowers. Later, the newly appointed principal, Fr. Roshan Rosario
was cordially welcomed and was honoured with a bouquet. Fr. Chetan,
introduced the new principal and compered the function. The classes
for the Second PUC students began on the same day.
We
are certainly back to our regular life after Summer holidays. With
the month of June new academic year begins, Schools reopen. The
Children come to make the school building beautiful and meaningful.
Our institution put on new life with students filling up the
campus. They are full of energy and dreams. For Headmasters and
Administrators the admission process would have been very tough one
more year of excitement and enlightenment through education and
learning experience. Some of you might have been transferred to
another parish or institution. Wish you all the best in your new
ministry.
4th
May 2013: It was a joyous day to all of us the Friars of Holy
Trinity Province, Karnataka. On this day 8 of our brothers made
their perpetual profession in the hands of our new Provincial
Minister Rev. Fr. Joseph Dolphy Pais during the Eucharistic
Celebration at 10. 30 am. The whole ceremony was held at Trinity
Vihar Perempally. After the Eucharist there was a felicitation
programme for our brothers.
Social
work is an international profession and similarly social work
education internationally has always embraced both academic and
practical components. Social work education comprises of a
theoretical component thought in the classroom and field based
education involving integration of the academic aspect and practice.
W.E.B.DU Bois says that “Education is that whole system of
human training within and without the school house walls which molds
and develops men”.
In
the 6th Provincial Chapter of the Karnataka Capuchins being held at
Shanthi Sadhana, Bangalore, Fr. Joseph Dolphy Pais was elected as
the new Provincial Minister of the Karnataka Province with a
overwhelming majority. 52 years old Fr. Dolphy Pais served as the
Vicar Provincial in the outgoing provincial Council. He holds a
doctorate in Spirituality and is the Program director at Franciscan
Institute of Spirituality, India, Bangalore. He was born in Banakal
in the diocese of Chikmagalur but later shifted out to Bangalore.
On
Saturday, 30th March, 2013, Infant Jesus School celebrated
Thanksgiving Day. Mr. S Nagesh, the Block Education Officer was the
Chief Guest of the Day. The purpose of the day was to honour several
personalities who brought laurels to the school during the academic
year 2012-2013. 60 students who frequented the school without taking
a single holiday and obtaining 100% attendance were honoured besides
14 students (one from each class) as best students of the year. Miss
Benita Asha Latha was awarded as the Best Teacher of the year.

On
Saturday 16th March 2013, Vimukti, Banakal unit organized SHG
Women’s convention in Adyanthaya Rangamandira, Mudigere. The
programme began with a rally at 10.00 a.m. by unfolding the banner
of the rally. It proceeded from Adyanthaya Rangamandira, via
M.G.Road to Mudigere circle, then again back to Adyanthaya
Rangamandira. The stage programme began at 11.30 a.m. in Adyanthaya
Rangamandira. K.P. Susheela, the President of Vimukti SHG
Federation, Banakal was the President of the programme.

Infant
Jesus School at Chikmagalur held the programme for giving award for
the Scouts, Guides, Cubs and Bulbuls on 15th March, 2013. Pratham
Sopana badges were distributed to the meritorious students by Sr.
Cynthia Suares, the District Guides Training Commissioner. As many
as 126 students received the awards and their training leaders
(teachers) organized a fitting programme on this occasion.
‘All
work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’ goes the saying. We at
Trinity have given equal importance to curricular and
extra-curricular activities. The whole academic year was spent with
events like Fancy dress competition, Talents day, Cooking without
Fire, Carol Singing, Children’s Fest. etc. which brought out their
hidden talents and developed their qualities in taking leadership.
But now it’s the high time for them to show their excellence in the
field of curriculum.
The
members of the Secular Franciscan Order from Chikmagalur region had
a spiritual gathering at Infant Jesus Friary, Chikmagalur. 112
members were present and the spiritual talks were offered by Fr.
Gerald Lobo, OFM Cap. 10 members had their investiture during the
mass. Fr. Lancy Rebello, OFM Cap. the spiritual assistant of the SFO
performed these rituals. A day long spiritual exercises were
appreciated by everyone.
Capuchin
Krishik Seva Kendra® Vimukti Laila organized women’s convention 2013
on 08-03-2013 in Ujire at the premises of Sri Janardana Swamy
Temple. The colourful programme was begun with the rally which was
inaugurated by Mrs. Sumathi Bhat, the president of the Vimukti, SHG
federation at Sri Rathnaverma Stadium, Ujire. 265 women self help
groups consisting of 4000 women followed up the rally with the great
dedication, discipline and vigour on the women’s day with the great
aim of bringing the change in the society.
On
9th of March 2013 Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya, Pothnal, conducted a
Science Exhibition. It was a unique event to bring out the hidden
scientists in the students. Fr. Satish Fernandes, the director of
Vimukti and Previous Principal of the school addressed the crowd and
gave a start to the exhibition. The students, viz. 5th to 8th
actively participated in the exhibition contributing from their
knowledge and creativity. The day was a grand success.

students and 12 staff members of Infant Jesus School, at Chikmagalur
paid a visit to the district prison at Chikmagalur on 9th March,
2013. The main purpose of this visit was to spread the good news of
peace and forgiveness. This programme was a part of the Prison
Ministry of India. The students enacted the Parable of Prodigal Son
with music and dance. Also the other songs and dances entertained
all the inmates of the prison. The jail superintendent Mr.
Shashidhar Kumar was all in praise for the creativity of the tiny
tots.
A
one-day outing was arranged for the tiny tots of our Montessori
section on 8th March 2013 to Katpadi river side and its
surroundings. The students were accompanied by Fr. Richie and
Teachers Mrs. Lavina, Mrs. Alvita and Mrs. Vidya. They were
overjoyed to cross the hanging bridge which rocks when wind blows.
Students also enjoyed taking a dip in the river and enjoyed the
natural beauty. All were very happy to spend a day out.
The
students of Infant Jesus School, went for an outing to WonderLa the
amusement park at Bangalore. They were accompanied by 4 staff
together with the principal. Some of them were for the first time
getting into water. They enjoyed to the full and returned late in
the evening.
Darshan
Institute of Theology, the Capuchin Theologate, at Deena Seva
Ashram, Kengeri, Bangalore conducted a seminar on Faith on Saturday,
23rd February 2013, to mark the year of Faith. It began at 08.45 am
and concluded with the lunch at 01.30 pm. "Faith: To Believe is to
be Vulnerable," was the attractive theme of the seminar. It was well
attended by the religious brothers and sisters of the Kengeri
region, with the Jesuit students of theology from Jnana Jyothi,
Anekal and also the Capuchin students of Darshan Institute of
Theology.
Everyone

reached to the realm as they received the prizes for their great
efforts. The prize distribution ceremony at Trinity central school
was presided over by our dear Rev. Fr. Denis Prakash Lobo. Mr.
Richard Lasrado and Mr. Daniel Mascarenhas were the chief guests at
the occasion.
Want
to be self reliant and self protective - come to Trinity Central
school and you will see the karate kids performing Kattha. 50
students appeared for the karate exam and secured the yellow belt
and three of them secured A+ grade with their great skill of martial
arts. For the first time the students were appearing for the karate
exam so, the enthusiasm and the curiosity to perform was at the
realm.
Science
Day was observed at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 28th
February, 2013 to mark the day of Nobel Prize winner Dr. C v Raman.
Dr. Geetha Takur from the Government Hospital at Ambale was the
chief guest. She also inaugurated the Science club officially and
delared the Science Exhibition open. “Taramandala” from Chitradurga
had conducted examinations on “Science & Humanity – Story of
Science” in the month of December and the results were announced on
this auspicious occasion and the certificates and medals were
distributed.
On
23rd we celebrated the 4th annual day at Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya. It
was a grand success -thanks to God- the day began with hoisting by
the school flag during the assembly. The program in the evening was
presided by Rev. Fr. Chetan Lobo, the chief guest His holiness shri.
Basava Prasad and other dignitaries were present on the stage. For
the first time in the history of Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya we
inaugurated Scouts and Guides during the occasion. The school report
was submitted, the guests were honoured and children given away
prizes.
Robert
Stephenson Smyth Baden Powell (22 February 1857 – 8 January 1941)
and his wife Lady Olave Baden Powell (22 February 1889 – 25 June
1977) were born on the same day (22nd February) but the difference
is 32 years. The Scouts & Guides moment started by this couple in
Great Britain has spread to 128 countries of the world. Infant Jesus
School at Chikmagalur which has the unit of Scouts & Guides, Cubs &
Bulbuls, celebrated the birthday of this heroic couple on the 22nd
of February.
Sneha
Jyothi Vidyalaya had organized an Educational tour to Mysore. The
students benefitted a lot from the awesome experience they had in
Mysore. All appreciated the tradition and richness that incredible
India is crowned with. Thanks for the all the capuchin brothers and
Ursuline Franciscan Sisters for being very generous in making the
students and staff comfortable on the excursion. We also appreciate
the initiative of the Principal Fr. Dancy Martis.
“Come,
Let us build a United Tomorrow” was the theme of the 3rd Annual day
which was celebrated at the school Campus i.e Trinity Greens on
Saturday, 16th February 2013. Prof.Mathew C. Ninan, Principal,
Little Rock Indian School, Brahmavar, was the Chief Guest for the
program. Rev.Fr.Peter Cyprian D’Souza, Superior of St. Anne’s
Friary, presided whereas Mrs.Eugene Quadros, President of Barkur
Parish Council was the Guest of Honour. The school flag soar high
and the dignitaries were escorted by the school band for the much
awaited celebration. Various programs added beauty to the
celebration.
Anugraha
School, Halbarga, Bidar celebrated its Annaul Day on 16-2-2013 at
4.30 in the evening. The function began with the Blessing and
Inauguration of School new block. Fr. Vincent Furtado, our
Provincial inaugurated the new block by cutting the ribbon and Most.
Rev. Robert Miranda, Bishop of Gulbarga, Blessed it. After which the
annaul day began with prayer dance.

Cubs & Bulbuls together with teachers of Infant Jesus School,
Chikmagalur went for a hiking to Shringeri on 17th February, 2013.
It was a part of the monthly activities of the Cubs & Bulbuls and
hence they preferred to go far away. The tiny tots all below 10
years of age left in the morning and returned in the evening with
full of rich experience. They had the Darshan of Shringeri temple
and also had a holy dip and holy meal. Kudos to you all Cubs &
Bulbuls.

Scouts & Guides together with 3 masters of Infant Jesus School,
Chikmagalur went for a hiking to Dharmasthala on 17th February,
2013. It was a part of the monthly activities of the scouts and
guides and hence they preferred to go to Dharmasthala. They left in
the morning and returned in the evening with full of rich
experience. For many it was a first experience of Charmadi Ghats and
also the divinity of Dharmasthala with a holy meals.
St.
Anthony’s Institutions, Kengeri celebrated its Annual Day on
Saturday, 9th February, 2013. With the arrival of the President and
the guests the program began sharp at 6 pm and punctually ended at 9
pm sharp. The chief guest Mr. S.T. Somashekar heaped the
institutions with praises and appreciated the dedication and
discipline. The prize winners in various events during the academic
year were felicitated.
In
a Legal awareness program held on 30-01-2013 at Vimukti Social Work
Centre at Pothnal, Mr. S.H Mittal Koda, the District Court Judge
enlightened nearly 255 women and children about the various rights
they have and the laws that are pertaining to them. The program was
organized by the Women and children welfare department along with
the Zilla Panchyath Raichur in collaboration with Vimukti Social
Work Centre at Pothnal.
School
Annual Day of Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur was celebrated on 9th
February, 2013 at 4 p.m. Fr. Vincent Furtado, OFM Cap. the
provincial of the Holy Trinity Province of the Capuchin friars
presided over the function. Mrs. Mini Thomas, the principal of St.
Joseph’s P U & Degree college, Chikmagalur, was the chief guest.
Bro. Victor Crasta, OFM Cap., the principal, Fr. Lawrence Dilraj
Sequeira, OFM Cap. the vice – principal, Mr. Shreedhar R, the
president of the Parent-Teacher-Association were the other
dignitaries on the dais. The students entertained everyone with
colour programmes.
On
January 14, 2013 Vimukti staff and the members of Ensemble Agissions
gathered together for the evaluation. The lengthy report, which
included various activities that were undertaken, was presented
before all. The Vimukti director Fr. Sathish elaborated each subject
of the report in detail. There were many issues discussed with
regard to the future plans of the year. For the betterment of the
project new directives were suggested and which could be implemented
in the future.
It’s
said “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you
did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”. Vimukti
staff has always a busy schedule because of the various assignments
they undertake each time. To have small break and relax a day-out
programme was fixed for the 16th of January 2013. The venue of our
day out was Hampi the Historical place and T.B.Dam.
On
13th of January 2013 the children of 14 villages arrived at the
Vimukti premises at 9.30 a.m. various events and competitions were
organized on this day. First, there was clay model exhibition on
science which was held. At the Sneha Jyothi School premises, the
speech competition was arranged. Many children took active part,
gave inspiring, and thought provoking speeches. In the evening at
5.00, the cultural programme commenced.
In
the words of Voltaire, ‘God gave us the gift of life; it is up to us
to give ourselves the gift of living well.’ “Sing and dance for joy,
it’s a day of joy, it’s a day of cheer, it’s a day of love, it’s a
day of mirth” it’s a day of celebration of gift of life. 11th of
January 2013 indeed a great day of joy as our dear friends Mr.
Daniel Helbert, Mrs. Bernadette Mrs. Veronique, Mrs. Jattiot Lily
celebrated their birthday at Vimukti premises.
An
enjoyable college fete followed by an enthralling Musical Evening
was held at the twin colleges campus on 2nd February. The much
awaited day began with the college fete. The students’ enthusiasm
was overwhelming. They set up more than 25 food stalls and games
areas. All types of snacks and chats were sold along with a variety
of games. The fete began at 11 in the morning and continued up to 3
pm in the afternoon.
The
lower primary children from Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya had an outing on
1st of Feb 2013. The children played in the Kiskinda water resort,
near Gangavathi. It was an amazing experience for the children as
there is no water for basic necessities in and around Pothnal. The
children enjoyed to the maximum on the occasion.
9th
January was a joyful day as we welcomed the arrival of our loving
friends from France; Deniel, Bernadette, veronique, and Lily. They
are all the members of the funding Agency ‘Ensemble Agissons’ (Let’s
get going together). “Sunshine is a welcome thing it brings a lot of
brightness” says Jimmie Davis. The very nature of the sun is full of
brightness. The Vimukti premise was also filled with lot of
brightness as our kind benefactors who travelled all the way from
France to Pothnal to share their joy amidst the children who are
being sponsored and are very much concerned.
An
institution requires constant fine tuning and the highest level of
co-operation, co-ordination and team spirit coupled with exceptional
professionalism. We are happy to say that our teachers exhibit the
rarest of rare commitment and devotion in the execution of their
duties. Our Physical Teacher K. Rudraiah has got " The Best Physical
Teacher Award" from the Bangalore South District High School
Association. We owe him a deep debt of gratitude.
Talent
Examination for Kannada Language was held in the month of November,
2012 at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur. Its results were announced
in January, 2013. 87 students answered this exam conducted by Putani
Vignana – Chitradurga. All the students have passed in First Class
and distinction. 13 students who got ranks received medals at
various levels. This exam was conducted and supervised at the school
level by Mr. Kiran Kumar, M.A., B.Ed. the president of Kannada
Sangha and assisted by Mr. Naveen Nazareth and Mr. Santhosh T R. The
certificates and medals were distributed to the winners by Fr.
Lawrence Sequeira, the vice-principal of the school. Our school was
recognized as one of the best schools in the state and the guide
teacher as one of the best teachers.
Cubs
& Bulbuls Utsava was held at Doddaballapura, Bangalore Rural, from
18th to 22nd January, 2013. Six Cubs from our school participated in
the Utsava. The tiny tots were accompanied by their cub masters Mr.
Poornachandra S S and Mr. Naveen Nazareth. As the troop was going
for the first time outside Chikmagalur, they have a rich experience
to share. Ours was the only lucky school to represent the entire
Chikmagalur District.
Sneha
Jyothi Vidyalaya celebrated the republic day in a grand scale. The
chief guest Fr. Robin Lopez who received the solute as the students
marched in parade. The flag hoisting was at 8am. There were
inspiring speech on the meaning and significance of the day. The
chief guest and a teacher also inspired the congregation with their
wisdom on the significance of the day. Some children sang some
patriotic songs. The program ended by distributing the sweets.
Republic
day was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 26th
January, 2013 at 8 a.m. Mr. Kanta Kumar B S, M.A., L.L.B. a lecture
cum advocate was the chief guest and hoisted the National Flag and
narrated to the crowd the importance of the Republic Day and the
constitution of India. Sr. Cynthia Suares, UFS, the District
Training Commissioner for Guides was the guest of honour.
The
Capuchin Study House Dimapur, meant for the future formation house
for the North Eastern students of our Order was inaugurated by Br.
Provincial and blessed by Most Rev. Dr. James toppil on 21st January
2013. The foundation stone for the building was laid by Rev. Br.
Vincent Gabriel Furtado the Provincial Minister in the month of
October 2009. Having completed the first phase of the construction,
the house was inaugurated so that it can begin to shelter the friars
and all who come.
All
those who seek mineral and less calcium water please step in Pothnal
and you will have. In Dootharbandi substation there a water refinery
is under the construction under the leadership of Pothnal parish
priest, Fr. Anthony Raj (Senior). The BDDS director, Fr. Paulraj has
been generous towards this venture. Thanks to him. The village
people joining hands together to complete the work as soon as
possible. The nearby villages will be benefitting from the water
refinery.
As
the day dawned to its fullness bringing with it great joys and
happiness, and as the birds flew from their nests with their sweet
whispering songs, the children , the sweet young children of Trinity
were on toes and gathered in great number for the picnic to
Mangalore. We began our journey in the morning at 09.30 a.m and
hoped to reach Kudroli temple as early as possible.
The
Annual Sports Meet of the twin colleges was conducted in the second
week of January. The students took part in it enthusiastically.
Several of them bagged prizes in both in-door and out-door events.
Games like Volleyball, throwball, foot ball, badminton, Kho-kho, etc
were conducted. Several track events also were conducted. Mr.
Rudraiah, the physical trainer of St. Anthony’s School,
Gangondanahalli assisted in Kho-kho.
16th
January 2013 was a joyous day to all the friars of Holy Trinity
Province Karnataka. It was the day of Priestly Ordination of Br.
Justin Sumi. Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima conferred
the grace of Ordination on Br. Justin Sumi on 16th January 2013 in
Catholic Church, Stitimi town at 9.30 a. m during the Holy
Eucharist. Br. Vincent G. Furtado the Provincial Minister of HTP
province Karnataka and his delegates and some friars from the
province have witnessed this grace filled event. We congratulate Fr.
Justin Sumi and wish a fruitful ministry in the vineyard of the
Lord.
To
conclude the Co-Curricular activities of this academic year, we had
Assisi Kho-Kho-Tournament. This year again we had an over-whelming
response of students from over 40 schools. St. Anthony's school boys
emerged as winners for the third consecutive time. And Cambridge
School girls emerged as winners.
CHILDREN
NEED MODELS AND NOT CRITICS : Childhood is the golden period in a
child's life. Children love appreciation and want to be recognized.
Our L.K.G and U.K.G students expressed their desire, "To be like
him/her". by participating in fancy dress competition.
Maths
Talent Exam by “Putani Vignana Chitradurga”, was conducted in our
school in the month of November, 2012. Its results were published on
16th January, 2013. Out of the 141 students who appeared for the
exams were all declared passed in the First class and above. 15
students secured ranks at the following level:- Taluk level – 3,
District level:- 4, State level:- 5, National level:- 3. Colourful
certificates and medals together with 4 booklets were distributed to
the students by the president of P T A, Mr. Shreedhar.
All
the Junior Priest recent ordained in the year 2010, 2011 and 2012
were gathered at Trinity Vihar Shivally from 3rd January to 6th for
a mutual sharing of their pastoral experiences. The main motto of
this gathering was to have some spiritual insights and renewal for
all the young priests who are involved so many activities in
different places. Therefore the sharing of the experiences of young
brothers was preceded by the input sessions from different qualified
and experienced professors.
The
talented children of Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya left their footprints in
the books of records as they won the prizes in the district level on
28th of December 2012. The prizes were distributed on 10 January
2013. Congratulations to all children who participated and teachers
who assisted them. 
On
8th January, 2013 Rangoli, Mehendi and Flower arrangement
competitions were held for the students of the twin colleges in view
of the College Annual day to be celebrated on 9th Feb. 2013. A
number of students participated in the competitions with enthusiasm
and displayed their skills. The winners will be awarded with prizes
on the College Day.
Christmas
2012 was celebrated at St. Anthony’s, Kengeri on 22nd December. Fr.
Dolphy Pais was the guest of honour and gave the Christmas message.
Since the degree students were on vacation, the whole program was
organized by PU students. Christmas carols, dances, and tableau
depicting the birth of Jesus were the highlights of the day. The
students were treated with Christmas sweets at the end of the
program.
January
8th, 2012 the day would remain significant one in the hearts and the
minds of the Vimukti children as their long awaited dream was
fulfilled when, Vimukti Makkala Hejje (the foot prints of Vimukti
children) the magazine was released. The Vimukti institute
considerably works for the betterment of children and it strives to
bring the best out of those children by way of constant and moral
support, only keeping in mind that the children become the little
stars and shine wherever they go. This magazine gave an ample of
opportunities to the children where they could write various
articles, poems, rhymes, stories, art so on and so forth.
The
month of December brings with us it some sweet memories, which
includes, the Christmas. At Trinity, this month brought lots of joy
and happiness. The Christmas celebrations at Trinity were celebrated
on 21st of December with great enjoyment and glorious gatherings.
Along with Christmas celebrations there included two more beautiful
events namely.
A
hectic schedule from June till November made everyone look forward
to a freak out as "only work and no play makes jack dull boy'. so,
during the month of December, we organized a trip to north
Karnataka, innovative film city, Talakadu, Somanathpur temple, Bluff
falls, and Lumbini garden. students and teachers enjoyed the visit
to various places like garden, water park factory and historical
places.
St.
Anthony school would like to wish you and all, a very joyful
Christmas and a blessed new year 2013. 
Christmas
was celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur on 22nd December,
2012. Fr. Patrick D’Souza from bishop’s house delivered the
Christmas message. On this occasion as India was celebrating
Mathematics Day on 22.12.2012, we also inaugurated Mathematics club
in our school. Christmas cake was cut and distributed to all the
gathering. Each staff member received a Christmas Gift and a
sumptuous meal.
Our
School had arranged a three day excursion to Goa on 1st December
2012 to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature.48 students along with
12 staff members visited Goa. Reyon of Std VIII, Branhard of Std VII
and Melissa of Std VI were taken to Goa on Principal’s expenses as
they had faired excellently well during their Mid-term exams. The
journey in the train was wonderful as we had good view of the
landscape around us and the children enjoyed a lot dancing and
singing.
20TH
DECEMBER 2012 was a joyous day for all of us the friars of Holy
Trinity Province Karnataka, India. We thank God for his choicest
blessing he has showered upon us. On this day the new house ‘YESU
NILAYA’ at Palya, Hassan District was blessed and inaugurated by
Most Rev. Anthony Swami, Bishop of Chikmagalur. The inauguration
ceremony began at 11:30 a. m and continued with the celebration of
the Holy Eucharist officiated by Most Revered Bishop along with more
than 25 concelebrants, capuchins as well as diocesan fathers of
Chikmagalur diocese and for about 150 faithful along with religious
brothers and sisters.
Trinity
Central School here celebrated "Children’s Fest - 2012" at
Trinity campus on Saturday, 15th December. Prior to the celebration,
Guests of Honour were accorded a guard of honour with the school
band leading to dais. Rev Fr. Vincent Furtado Capuchin, Provincial
of CPM Bangalore blessed the newly build stage of the school.
What
is the activity? : Formation of Association of Children of St.
Francis of Assisi. Purpose of the association : For the
stronger faith formation through children in and around Pothnal. To
motivate all Christian to involve actively in the church activities.
To make the parish to be supported by the parishners. How it
works? : The association works with the members who are
children, who gather every week and pray in a certain place after
the catechism class.
A
Seminar on transformative spirituality through self-awareness,
self-formation and self-mastery organised by the Franciscan
Capuchins, held at Capuchin House, Ampitiya, Kandy on the solemnity
of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary and at the
special occasion of the Birthday celebration of our Guardian. Rev.
Fr. Lawrence Soosai SJ from the Jesuit Province, Patna was the
resource person. The guardian welcome Fr. Lawrence and all the
participants who came from other neighboring houses said that all
transformative spirituality involves of being aware of oneself,
forming one self and growing into that fullness of being one’s own
unique self.
It
was Sunday morning on 16th of December; there was smile and wonder
on all the face as one cake was distributed among hundreds of
children and parishnrs. It was birthday of our beloved Brother and
principal of Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya Fr. Dancy Sunil Martis whose
birthday was celebrated in the parish level under the initiatives of
the parish priest, Fr. Anthonyraj (senior). The day was remarkable
in the parish as the parish priest remembered the constant support
and encouragement he gets from the birthday baby.
Capuchin
Krishik Seva Kendra CKSK has brought lasting changes in the lives of
vulnerable children, youths and women in various aspects of life.
The Organization and its beneficiaries always remain indebted to
ChildFund India, Manos Unidas, TDSS, Bridge Foundation and
well-wishers without whose generous financial support; one would not
have seen the smiles on the faces of unfortunates’ brethren. Here is
the annual report of the programs conducted in the year 2011-2012.
Capuchin
Krishik Seva Kendra Vimukti Laila organized a programme called
“Vibinnatheyalli Bavaikyate” on 8 December 2012 at Ujire near Bus
stand. The president of the programme, Rev. Fr. Henry Vas,
Chairperson of Dayalbagh Institutions, Mr. S.G Bhat, the Public
Relation Officer, Benaka Health Centre, Ujire, Mr. Seviyar Palely,
Notary & Advocate D.K. District Christian Marriage Registrar,
Maulana Zameer Sahadi Val Fazil, Prof. Sunni Darul Ulum Mahammadiya
Bangalore were the Chief guests of the programme.
Charitable
Trust® Organized a HIV/ AIDS Awareness Programs in five unites on
7th 8th 9th 10th and 11th 2012 in different places of Manvi Taluka.
The Staff put up tableau, skit on the theme HIV/AIDS. The Staff put
up tableau, skit on the theme HIV/AIDS. Group songs, speeches and
poster display were the important items of the days. Mr. Mallaya the
SDMC President of Gram Panchayat Uatakanoor flagged off the rally
from Mahalingeshwara temple to Village circle. During the rally
vigilant songs were sung and anti- AIDS slogans kept the rhythm of
the rally. Fr. Sathish Fernandes Director Vimukti, Chief Guest of
this stage program, apart from that Mr. Kubera Head master Mr.
Bawaraj High School teacher, were present on the stage.
There
was a double celebration of life at Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya as the
Manager of the School, Fr. Robin Lopez and The Principal of the
School, Fr. Dancy celebrated their anticipated birthday on 12-12-12.
Since the Children are appearing for the 2nd Unit Test on 17th the
Staff decided to have the celebration on 12th December. The theme of
the program was: LIFE IS THE GIFT OF GOD. The staff and students
rocked the stage to their level best with dances, dramas, rhymes,
speeches of appreciation and cutting the cake in a very creative
manner etc.
On
the 10th of November, 2012, a friendly match was held between the
students of Infant Jesus School and the students of Government
Higher Primary School of Adhishaktinagar, Chikmagalur. Kabaddi, Kho
Kho, Volley ball and throw ball were the events took place. Mr.
Praveen Harold Pinto, the Physical Education Teacher of St. Joseph’s
Convent School, Chikmagalur was the referee for all the events
together with Mr. Santhosh T R, the PE Teacher of Infant Jesus
School.
Fr.
Charles Furtado, the Dean of Studies at Darshan Institute of
Theology, Bengaluru, organised a seminar, ‘Liturgy Builds the
Church’ on the 1st December 2012 from 9 am to 4 pm. It was rendered
by a well informed Resource Person in the person of Fr. Boniface
Pinto, the Director of Mangala Jyothi Pastoral Institute, Mangalore.
Fr. Charles welcomed the gathering, Fr. Edwin Colaco presented the
Key note address, Fr. Boniface enlightened us with his paper
Presentation on how the Liturgical celebration actually builds the
Church, after which his talks were more on the practical issues
regarding the Uniform Guidelines for an Effective Liturgical
celebration and Liturgical Proclamation of the Word.
The
Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya School rejoices together with staff and
students as many of our children participated in Ravi Varma
Chitrakala drawing competition and 30 of our students participated
and won so many prizes. Thus the principal Fr. Principal and staff
decided have a stage program and distributed the prizes. The program
was held on 6th of December, 2012. For the program the Chief Guest
was Fr. Anand J. assistant parish priest of Javalagera, Mr. Sabjali
Sab, HM of Tadkal Primary School, PT teacher from Tadkal and parents
representatives Mr. Soloman from Diddagi and Shivakumar from Gonvar.
The
world aids day celebration was celebrated on 30th of November as
there was government holiday on 1st of December. The day was
celebrated very meaningful at Sneha Jyothi Vidyalaya, Pothnal. There
was half day seminar on sex-education for the 6th, 7th and 8th
standard students. Sr. Nirmala UFS was the resource person for the
seminar. The seminar was arranged in view of the all-round growth of
the children.

ACTIVITIES THAT ARE TAKING PLACE IN ST. CLARE PARISH AT POTHNAL. THE
PARISH PRIEST OF POTHNAL, FR. ANTHONY (SENIOR) TAKING ATMOST CARE TO
STRENGTHEN THE FAITH OF THE PEOPLE WITH THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES: A
CROSS IS BEING TAKEN INTO THE VILLAGE TO VILLAGE AS A SIGN OF YEAR
OF FAITH. THE DAY IT REACHES A VILLAGE A SOLEMN MASS IS CELEBRATED,
INVITING PEOPLE TO FOR A TRUE FATIH IN JESUS CHRIST.
Prathibha
Karanji (cluster level) was held at Morari Residential Minority
School at Tegur on 23rd November, 2012 and the students of Infant
Jesus School, participated in all the competitions. 24 students
received prizes in various levels. All of them were congratulated
for the great achievements and the teachers who prepared them were
thanked by the principal on the following day during the morning

Karnataka
Centre for Talent Exams, Hungund, Bagalkot District, conducted
English Talent examinations at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur in
the month of August, 2012. Its results were declared on 21st
November, 2012. Out of the 184 students who answered this
examination, all passed in First Class. 18 students received ranks
in various levels, like Taluk level – 5, District level – 4 and
State level – 9. Certificates were distributed to all the students
while the rank holders received extra medals. The school headmaster
was awarded special prize for the keen interest shown to conduct
this examination.
The
children’s day was celebrated on 15th November 2012 at Sneha Jyothi
Vidyalaya, Pothnal in a grand scale. The celebration began with
assembly by announcing and wishing the children a happy children’s
day. The principal of the school Fr. Dancy Sunil Martis enlighten
the children regarding children’s day and its meaning and
significance. After that the respective class teachers conducted
both indoor and outdoor games to their class children like fancy
dress competition, memory testing games, funny games, cricket, throw
ball etc.,.
Our
staff members organized various activities to encourage them to open
up new issues. And teachers showed their love and interest to their
students by conducting various activities. 
Children’s
Day was celebrated on 15th November, 2012 at Infant Jesus School,
Chikmagalur. The day began with the school assembly cum prayer led
by the staff. This day was combined with the Inaugural programme of
English Club in our school. The Chief Guest of the Day Rev. Sr.
Savitha Antony, CTS, the General Councilor of the Congregation of
Theresian Sisters from Rome, inaugurated the English club by
lighting the traditional lamp. Mr. Bennette D’Souza, one of the
coffee planters and Mrs. Geetha Dias a social worker and
philanthropist were the judges for the Fancy Dress & Rangoli
Competitions.

Rajyotsava Day was celebrated at St. Anthony’s, Kengeri on 3rd
November, 2012. The college wa reopened just on 30th October, hence
the day was shifted to 3rd November, in order to have more time for
the students to prepare. Frs. Chetan and Veerus were the chief
guests for the function. Dr. B.S.Talwadi, the PU college principal
and an eminent Kannada author spoke on the importance of encouraging
and safeguarding Kannada language and culture. Fr. Chetan opined
that Kannada should bond hearts and minds together and not create
alienate people. He condemned the attempts of dividing one Karnataka
into pieces.
The
programme began at 8.30am with welcoming the honorable guests on the
dais and singing HACHCHEVU KANNADADA DEEPA The guest were mainly our
own staff members. The children participated actively in the short
conducted programme and danced to the tune of ADAVI DEVIYA KAADU
JANAGALA EE NAADU and HUTTIDARE KANNADINALLI HUTTABEKU. The guests
enlightened the students and staff regarding the Karnataka
Rajyothsava. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Fr. Richard
Kadiwal and distributing sweets to the students and refreshment to
the staff.

Rajyotsava Day
celebrated at Infant Jesus School, Chikmagalur
: 
On
16th of October, 2012, a Medical camp was organized at VIMUKTI.
There were 750 children attended Medical camp and benefited from
this program and there were 2 doctors and nurses examined the
children. A play on Health and Hygiene was performed by the staff
and children were suggested to maintain cleanliness in and around
the living habitation as part of their health awareness programme.
The health camp recorded on height and weight, Blood pressure and
general health indications. After the programme nearly 18 children
were referred to different hospitals for further treatments.
Three
days summer camp was organized at vimukti premises by VCT for the
Club children from 17th, two 19th of October, 2012 for their
holistic development. 310 children attended it and benefitted by
being enriched with the wide knowledge and gained rich experience of
learning innovative things through digital learning. The main
purpose behind the camp was to develop and nurture the young minds
rationally. It started with meditation for half an hour regularly
and then proceeded with video shows on consequence of cleanliness,
child labour, child marriage, and malnutrition etc., English,
Kannada, Hindi and other language songs were taught to sharpen their
singing talents.
“Surely
God will reward each person according to what he has done” (Ps
62,12). The hard work and dedication of Fr. Salvador Fernandes bore
fruit as he was conferred doctorate in Sacred Scripture on the 10 of
October 2012 from the prestigious Rheinisch Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität
BONN, Germany. He did his research in the Book of Psalms entitled
“God as Rock in the Psalter” under the guidance of the renowned
scholars Prof. Dr. U.Berges and Prof. Dr. F. –L. Hossfeld. The
doctoral ceremony was witnessed by a number of Capuchin Friars,
friends and well-wishers. The day began with the Eucharist
celebrated at St. Remegius in Bonn, followed by the Doctoral
ceremony in the Festsaal of the University and a reception
thereafter.
As
the beautiful quote says ''Education is that whole system of human
training within and without the school house walls, which molds and
develops children''. We must know education is not limited to
certain areas but in every field there is something to learn. We
know that in the past the vimukti ceaselessly working towards the
development and education of children in various ways and tries to
implement new ways and methods, it organized a day out for about 40
children to the kavital police working department to know more about
the work and mission that is undertaken by the police personnel.
