We have begun our new academic year 2015-16 on the 16th of June 2015. Rightly acknowledging the need of God’s blessing, the brothers, both staff and students spent their half day in prayer and recollection. During the recollection talk Br. Rector Santa Lopes motivated the community to live our consecrated life in joyfulness. He said, “Consecrated life is a divine call to incarnate the Good news. It is a way to follow Christ, the crucified and Risen One. Pope Francis says that the beauty of consecrated life is joy. It is a life of joy, a life of gladness and a life of rejoicing. Joy begins with our encounter with Jesus. Joy begins with our closeness with Jesus, joy begins with our nearness to Christ. Joy begins when our heart searches for God. Thus with Jesus Christ joy is constantly born anew. As religious we are called to become a parable of joy. In this year of consecrated life pope Francis calls us to be joyful people and gives us a prophetic call to “wake up the world!” in a special way by prophetic joy and charity. Religious are the people who follow the Lord in a special way, in a prophetic way. It is by this witness that men and women who are able to wake the world up”. The inaugural concelebrated Eucharistic celebration was held at 11.30 a.m. Being the main celebrant, rector Santa Lopes following the words of Jesus invited the community “to be perfect as our heavenly Father is perfect” (Mt. 5,48) in our relationship and fulfilling our responsibilities as professors and students in the new academic year.

In the afternoon at 3 p.m. the “Lectio Brevis-2015” was held in a beautifully decorated hall with a glittering stage. V. Rev. Dr. N.S. Let it not be another year of passing the time monotonously but requested the students to do their best not just aiming at 50 per cent but at 100 percent. Further citing the words of Henry Ford, “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is progress, and working together is success”, he requested the staff and students to work together to have a successful academic year. He made the staff and students to be aware of all the newness that we have in this year, especially with regard to the seminar on “consecrated life: a prophetic call to wake up the world”, the dates of annual retreat, the new norms that are to be followed etc. Under the main theme, “learning to love and loving to learn” the chief guest V.
